Tyler Soderstrom and Zack Gelof have long been viewed as potential franchise cornerstones of the A’s. For both, the time is now.

Soderstrom -- ranked Oakland’s No. 1 prospect and the No. 34 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline -- and A's No. 3 prospect Gelof are both getting called up to the Majors, a source told MLB.com. Both are expected join the club ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Twins at the Coliseum.

Soderstrom, 21, has flexed his muscle at Triple-A Las Vegas this season, leading the Aviators with 20 homers along with 59 RBIs and a .839 OPS in 69 games. The catcher/first baseman participated in the All-Star Futures Game at T-Mobile Park in Seattle last week.

Gelof, 23, is batting .304 with a team-leading .930 OPS at Las Vegas with 12 homers, 21 doubles, 44 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. The infielder's rapid ascension to the big leagues will come almost exactly two years to the day he was drafted by Oakland in the second round of the 2021 MLB Draft.

Soderstrom and Gelof headline a group of several prospects expected to help form the franchise’s next wave of winning baseball. For a rebuilding A’s club that struggled through the first half, their arrival represents excitement for the second half and hope that a new chapter is getting underway.
