FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Marc Davis and the FredNat pitching staff limited Down East to just one base hit, in a 3-1 Nationals victory. Fredericksburg is 18-8 now, while the Wood Ducks fell to 11-14.

Davis and Down East starter Alejandro Rosario each spun two scoreless innings to begin the game. But in the bottom of the third, Nate Ochoa and Brandon Pimentel each singled to put runners on the corners. Roismar Quintana then lashed a two-run double to bring both runs home, and give Fredericksburg a 2-0 lead after three.

Down East was hitless going into the sixth inning, but managed to manufacture a run thanks to a walk, two stolen bases, and an infield ground out. They also broke up the no-hitter with a double from Echedry Vargas.

Fredericksburg added a crucial insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning, on a solo home run from Jose Colmenares to make it 3-1. Thomas Schultz then closed out a 3-1 win, to earn his league-leading sixth save of the year. Robert Garcia (1-0) got the win in his first outing on a rehab assignment, while Alejandro Rosario was saddled with the loss.

In the series finale, Travis Sthele (0-1, 4.50) takes the ball for the FredNats, against Kolton Curtis (1-1, 1.59). First pitch is at 5:05.
