MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The FredNats dropped a 1-0 nail biter to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in their second meeting of the week.
Bryan Caceres took the ball for Fredericksburg, and continued what has been a very good run for him in his return to the starting rotation. He gave up just two base hits in five scoreless innings, but did walk four hitters. Caceres worked himself into and out of trouble throughout the night. On two separate occasions, Myrtle Beach had runners on second and third with one out, but could not score against the FredNat righty.
Unfortunately, Myrtle Beach starter Michael Arias fanned 10 men himself in five scoreless innings. The Pelicans finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, when they put runners on second and third with one out against Pedro Gonzalez. He got Pedro Ramirez to bounce a ground ball to first base, but Cristian Hernandez scored on a close play at the plate.
The Pelican bullpen locked things down from there, holding the Freddies in check en route to a 1-0 victory. Erian Rodriguez got his fourth win and Angel Gonzalez earned his fourth save, while Pedro Gonzalez suffered the loss. In game three of this week, Luke Young takes on Marino Santy.
