Claws Fall 4-2 on Thursday in First Half Finale

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Patrick Halligan threw 4.1 innings of shutdown, scoreless relief and Rome held off the BlueClaws 4-2 on Thursday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.
The BlueClaws finished the first half at 35-30 while their four game winning streak came to a close.
Rome opened the scoring in the second inning on an RBI single from Eliziel Stevens off Cam Wynne. Andrick Nava tied the game for the BlueClaws with an RBI single in the bottom of the second. However, Rome re-claimed the lead in the third inning on an RBI double by Keshawn Ogans off Matt Russell in the third (3-4).
Ogans hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning off Jack Dallas to push the lead to 4-1.
The BlueClaws got a run back in the 5th on an RBI single from Gabriel Rincones, Jr. After that base hit, Patrick Halligan came into the game and struck out Rixon Wingrove with runners at second and third to end the inning.
Halligan went 4.1 innings and gave up one hit with six strikeouts to earn the win. Luis Vargas gave up two runs over 4.2 innings.
Jordi Martinez threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Orion Kerkering struck out the side in the ninth inning for Jersey Shore.
The teams continue their series on Friday night, the first game of the second-half, at 7:05 pm. RHP Gunner Mayer starts for the BlueClaws.
