EASTLAKE, OH – The Lake County Captains (22-19, 63-44) and the Great Lakes Loons (22-19, 56-51), the High-A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, are set to clash for seven games starting Tuesday at Classic Auto Group Park. Lake County leads the season series 7-4, taking four out of five games in Eastlake and winning three out of six games in Midland, Michigan.
LAST TIMES OUT
- The Captains lost four out of six games against the Dayton Dragons (High-A, Cincinnati Reds) at Day Air Ballpark in Dayton. Lake County won Tuesday’s series opener 9-6 in 11 innings and 5-2 in the series finale on Sunday. Trailing 2-1 in the top of the ninth on Sunday, CF Esteban González and RF Jake Fox, MLB Pipeline’s No. 17 Cleveland prospect, hit a pair of two-run singles to cap off a four-run ninth.
- The Loons won their second straight series, taking four out of six games versus Lansing (High-A, Oakland Athletics). Great Lakes won the final two games, including an 8-2 victory over the Lugnuts in Sunday’s series finale. The Loons have won eight of their last 10 games.

- Lake County and Great Lakes are tied for third in the Midwest League East Second Half standings, sitting 2.5 games behind first place Dayton.
- The Captains, MWL East First Half Division Champions, are first in the MWL East overall standings by 4.5 games. The Loons are third, trailing Lake County by seven games.

- INF Travis Bazzana, Baseball America’s No. 19 overall prospect and the No. 1 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, has reached base in eight straight games and walked in five straight. In his Captains home debut on July 31, in the continuation of the team’s suspended July 30 game, he hit a grand slam for his first career professional home run.
- C Johnny Tincher, the Captain of the Week presented by Official League for July 19-21, is riding a 13-game on-base streak. During his on-base streak, Tincher is batting .310 (13-for-42) with a .420 OBP, two homers, two doubles and 10 RBI.
- OF Esteban González is batting .314 (11-for-35) with eight RBI in August, tied for sixth in the MWL in that span. He has reached base in seven of nine games played in August.
- RHP Carter Spivey ranks tied for first in the Midwest League with nine quality starts, second with 106.1 innings pitched, and fifth with a 3.46 ERA. His 2.19 ERA since May 31 is the second-best in High-A.
- INF Angel Genao, MLB Pipeline’s No. 10 Cleveland prospect, leads the Cleveland farm system and is tied for fifth in Minor League Baseball with 125 hits. He is the only Minor Leaguer with a .320 batting average, 125 hits, 40 extra-base hits, and 20 stolen bases this season.

- OF Josue De Paula, MLB Pipeline’s No. 2 Dodgers prospect, has drawn 26 walks since his High-A debut on June 25 at Lake County, tied for the second-most in the Midwest League. His 60 walks between Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Great Lakes are tied for fourth in the Dodgers organization.
- LHP Maddux Bruns, MLB Pipeline’s No. 12 Dodgers prospect, pitched four scoreless innings on August 8 versus Lansing in his second start after being activated from the 60-day injured list. In seven starts with Great Lakes this year, Bruns is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA, 28 strikeouts, and a .176 opposing average in 20 innings.
- RHP Peter Heubeck, MLB Pipeline’s No. 28 Dodgers prospect, has struck out 11.71 batters per nine innings, the fourth-most in High-A among pitchers with 70-plus innings pitched. His .183 opposing average is second among High-A pitchers with 70-plus frames thrown.
- RHP Payton Martin, MLB Pipeline’s No. 9 Dodgers prospect, earned his second High-A win on August 11 versus Lansing, pitching five innings, allowing two runs and striking out two in the 8-2 win. He earned his first High-A quality start on June 4 versus West Michigan, allowing one earned run (two total) in the 4-2 win.
- OF Dylan Campbell leads qualified Loons hitters in batting average (.267) and is third in the Midwest League with 38 stolen bases. Campbell and current Double-A Tulsa INF Taylor Young (2023) are the only Loons since 2015 to steal 38-plus bases in the team’s first 106 games of a season.
