(Eastlake, OH) -
Segovia put the Timber Rattlers on the board in the second inning with an RBI single in the second. After Wisconsin added an insurance run in the fourth, Segovia delivered the game's biggest blow in the fourth inning.
After Segovia hit a high fly ball that just landed foul down the left field line, he hit another high and deep drive toward the left field foul pole. This time, Segovia's drive cleared the wall in fair territory to give the Timber Rattlers a 5-0 lead, but the home run was the subject of much debate afterwards. After Segovia's ball was ruled fair, Captains Manager Larry Day emerged from the Lake County dugout to argue the call with home plate umpire Robert Nunez. Day was promptly tossed from the game for his first ejection of the year.
Segovia contributed Wisconsin's final run of the night in the eighth inning. Lara doubled against Captains reliever
The Captains were never able to string together a rally against a trio of Wisconsin hurlers. Lake County tallied eight hits, but only had multiple baserunners in one inning. It took until the ninth for the Captains to put multiple runners on base when
Jordan Desguin earned the win for Wisconsin in relief. The right-hander took over for Zack Brown, who pitched the first two innings, and followed with five shutout frames of his own. Desguin (3-1) allowed just four hits, did not walk a batter and did not record a strikeout.
Despite the loss, two Captains contributed multiple hits. Chu had a single and a double, while
