LAST SERIES

  • After suffering a 6-2 loss in the series-opener this past Tuesday at LMCU Ballpark, the Captains rattled off five straight road wins against the West Michigan Whitecaps.
  • The TinCaps were swept in six games at home by the first-place Great Lakes Loons. Their six-game losing streak is the longest active streak in the Midwest League.

  • Lake County sits in second place in the Midwest League East, trailing Great Lakes (14-7) by 2.5 games.

  • INF Alex Mooney (MLB Pipeline's No. 20 Cleveland prospect) batted .381 (8-for-21) with two home runs and six RBI in five games versus West Michigan en route to Captain of the Week honors. In a 7-1 win on Saturday, April 27, Mooney became the 16th Captain all-time and the third Midwest League player this year to record five hits in a game.
  • OF Jonah Advincula has reached base in each of his first 14 career High-A games, which is tied for the longest active on-base streak in the Midwest League. During this streak, Advincula is batting .292 (14-for-48) with a .386 on-base percentage, eight RBI and six runs.
  • INF Nate Furman sports an 11-game hitting streak, which is the second-longest active streak in the Midwest League behind South Bend’s Jefferson Rojas (14 games). During this streak, Furman is batting .340 (16-for-47) with one home run, two doubles and nine RBI.
  • RHP Trenton Denholm leads the Midwest League in WHIP (0.84) and ranks seventh in ERA (2.53). The former UC Irvine Anteater earned his second quality start of the season on Saturday, April 27 at West Michigan, striking out a High-A-best eight Whitecaps hitters.
  • INF Maick Collado leads the Midwest League with a .536 on-base percentage, which ranks fourth in all of Minor League Baseball. The Santiago, Dominican Republic native is also riding an eight-game hitting streak, which is the third-longest active streak in the Midwest League.

5 PLAYERS TO KNOW – FORT WAYNE

  • C Ethan Salas (MLB Pipeline's No. 1 San Diego prospect/No. 8 overall prospect) is batting .217 (13-for-60) with a .351 OBP and .634 OPS. At 17 years old, Salas is the youngest player to play for the Fort Wayne franchise, and is just the fifth 17-year-old to play at the High-A level since at least 2006.
  • INF Devin Ortiz sports a 13-game on-base streak, which is the fifth-longest active streak in the Midwest League. Ortiz Is batting a team-high .300 (18-for-60) with a .417 OBP and .867 OPS.
  • 1B Griffin Doersching has slugged a team-high three home runs, which are the 13th-most in the Midwest League. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy hit two homers and a double on Thursday, April 18 at Dayton.
  • RHP Dylan Lesko (MLB Pipeline's No. 4 San Diego prospect/No. 50 overall prospect) is tied for the team lead with four starts. The No. 15 overall pick in 2022 is holding opponents to a .130 batting average, the seventh-lowest among Midwest League pitchers with 10-plus innings pitched.
  • OF Homer Bush Jr. (MLB Pipeline's No. 11 San Diego prospect) ranks second in the Midwest League with 10 stolen bases, and is one of three players in the league with 10-plus swiped bags. Bush is the son of 1998 World Series champion Homer Bush Sr., who played seven years in MLB.
