Gant's previous season high for strikeouts was seven, set twice while with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Redbirds hit two home runs on the day, with
Ravelo finished 2-for-4 with three RBI, and
Batting in the bottom of the eighth with a 3-0 lead, the next five Redbirds after a leadoff strikeout reached base, with Kelly's two-run single providing the club's fifth and sixth runs of the day.
After Gant, who moved to 5-1 with the win,
All 11 Reno hits on the day were singles.
