Thomas' homer was his third of the season with the Redbirds and accounted for all of Memphis' scoring. After
Ellis struck out five in his 3.2 innings, including the side in the fifth, and he induced a double play to end the seventh. Webb needed just nine pitches for the eighth inning, and Morales got a strikeout in the ninth to pick up his sixth save of the year.
There were only eight combined hits in the game.
The win snapped Memphis' four-game losing streak.
