Game Summary: Ryan Pepiot recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts over six innings while Miguel Vargas and Michael Busch each hit home runs as the Oklahoma City Dodgers opened a series against the Round Rock Express with a 7-1 win at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Vargas hit a solo home run in the first inning for the first run of the night. Busch and Jason Martin hit back-to-back doubles later in the inning for a 2-0 Dodgers lead. Vargas added a RBI single in the second inning and Oklahoma City (42-25) added another run on an errant Round Rock pickoff attempt for a 4-0 lead. The lone run of the night for the Express (35-32) came on a solo home run by Bubba Thompson in the third inning. Jake Lamb knocked a RBI double in the fourth inning and Busch hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning. Pepiot (6-0) allowed one run and three hits over 6.0 innings in his sixth win of the season, recording 10 strikeouts against three walks. Pitchers Garrett Cleavinger and Carson Fulmer combined to allow one hit and one walk over the final three innings.

Of Note:

-Ryan Pepiot (6-0) recorded 10 strikeouts for the most strikeouts by an Oklahoma City pitcher this season and the most of his Triple-A career. Pepiot last recorded double-digit strikeouts July 4, 2021 with Double-A Tulsa against Arkansas. Pepiot also improved to 6-0 with Tuesday’s win, recording a sixth win in a season for the first time in his professional career. Pepiot threw a career-high 98 pitches Tuesday, allowing one run, three hits and three walks…The Dodgers improved to 10-0 in Pepiot’s starts this season.

-With Tuesday’s win, the Pacific Coast League-leading Dodgers matched their season-high mark of 17 games above .500. Oklahoma City has now won five of the last six games, seven of the last nine games, 11 of the last 14 games and 14 of the last 17 games.

-Michael Busch extended his hitting streak to 12 games, going 2-for-5 with a double, homer, two RBI and two runs scored. During the streak, Busch is 17-for-52 (.327) with eight extra-base hits and 11 RBI. The streak is tied with Jake Lamb for the longest hitting streak by a Dodgers player this season. The 12-game streak also matches his career-long streak of hitting in 12 straight games May 8-20 between Double-A Tulsa and OKC.

-Jake Lamb hit his 12th double of the season and collected a RBI as he extended his hitting streak to a career-best 12 games. During the streak he is 19-for-48 (.396) with three homers, seven doubles, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored. The streak is tied with Michael Busch for the longest hitting streak by a Dodgers player this season. Lamb also reached base in a season-best 16th consecutive game.

-The Dodgers have scored at least six runs in 11 of the last 13 games (97 R) and have homered in nine consecutive games.

-Oklahoma City held the Express to one run, marking the second time in the last three games the Dodgers have allowed one or no runs. Tuesday was also the second time in the last three games the Dodgers held an opponent to four hits.

-Miguel Vargas recorded his third multi-hit outing in the last four games and is 7-for-17 with four RBI, four walks and four runs scored over the four games. Vargas hit his 11th home run of the season — second-most among OKC players.

-Jason Martin collected his team-best 14th double of the season. He has now hit safely in a season-best 11 consecutive games, going 16-for-41 (.390) with four home runs, two triples, four doubles and 15 RBI.

-In addition to Miguel Vargas and Michael Busch, Drew Avans, Ryan Noda and Tony Wolters also recorded multi-hit games as the Dodgers outhit the Express, 12-4.
