San Jose, CA – The San Jose Giants held the Rancho offense in check on Wednesday afternoon, earning a 6-0 shutout at Excite Ballpark.
Four Giants combined to hold the Quakes to just three hits in winning for a second straight game.
Maddux Bruns got the start and gave Rancho two scoreless innings, but reliever Gabe Emmett struggled with his command in the third, as the Giants got just one hit, but posted four runs to take an early 4-0 lead.
Rancho really never threatened, finishing with two singles and a ninth-inning double by Yunior Garcia.
San Jose starter Seth Lonsway allowed just one hit and struck out seven over four scoreless frames. Reliever Matt Mikulski (4-3) grabbed the win with three scoreless frames.
Rancho has now been outscored 24-4 over the first two games of the series.
The Quakes (13-13, 49-43) will send Edgardo Henriquez to the mound on Thursday night, as he takes on San Jose’s Trevor McDonald (3-3) at 6:30pm.
