RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Atlantic Union Bank announced today an expansion of their partnership that will include the Richmond-based regional bank becoming the first Founding Partner at CarMax Park, the new ballpark and community entertainment venue in Richmond expected to open in 2026.
As the official banking partner of the Richmond Flying Squirrels, Atlantic Union Bank will also have exclusive naming rights to the Atlantic Union Bank Lounge, which will feature an elevated game day hospitality experience in a climate-controlled setting with nearly 200 adjoining exterior seats.
The Atlantic Union Bank Lounge is also being designed as a premier event area with the flexibility to host a multitude of events and community functions year-round. The venue is expected to be streaming-ready and fully equipped with professional lighting to host indoor sporting events, such as boxing and wrestling, as well as concerts and other performances. With panoramic views of CarMax Park and more than 6,000-square feet of interior space, the Atlantic Union Bank Lounge will also be a unique destination for corporate conferences, banquets, non-profit fundraisers, weddings and many other events.

Becoming a Founding Partner of this new stadium allows Atlantic Union Bank to be a part of the Richmond community and one of its most well-loved pastimes – baseball. The bank is excited to join its friends, families, neighbors and other businesses in bringing this new venue to Richmond to foster a spirit of togetherness and goodwill.
“Atlantic Union Bank is thrilled to partner with the Richmond Flying Squirrels on this exciting new ballpark and event space,” said John Asbury, CEO of Atlantic Union Bank. “Our organizations have built a long-standing relationship and share a deep passion for the community. Baseball has been a staple in Richmond for over a century, and we are enthusiastic to help usher in a new era for the Flying Squirrels and new opportunities for the city to grow and flourish.”
