Series Preview: Richmond returns home for exciting series against Somerset

Summer has officially arrived in RVA, and the Flying Squirrels are serving up three series in three weeks at The Diamond! The team returns to Richmond for a six-game series from Tuesday, June 25 through Sunday, June 30 vs the Somerset Patriots, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. The

Summer has officially arrived in RVA, and the Flying Squirrels are serving up three series in three weeks at The Diamond! The team returns to Richmond for a six-game series from Tuesday, June 25 through Sunday, June 30 vs the Somerset Patriots, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. The Patriots’ roster includes nine of the Yankees’ top-30 prospects, according to MLB.com.

The series boasts an exciting lineup of promotions including a tattoo sleeve giveaway, Negro Leagues Heritage Night and the highly anticipated Bluey Meet & Greet.

Tuesday, June 25 vs. Somerset Patriots: The Fan and Museum District Community Night

6:35 p.m. | Gates 5:30 p.m. | Tickets

The Flying Squirrels are celebrating two of Richmond’s favorite neighborhoods: The Fan and the Museum District.

  • Visit tables on the concourse and outside the front gates to learn about local business in The Fan and the Museum District.
  • It’s also the next Silver Squirrels game. Fans age 55 and older are eligible to join the Silver Squirrels club presented by OrthoVirginia and receive member benefits including tickets to every Tuesday home game, an exclusive T-shirt and a concession voucher. Wednesday, June 26 vs. Somerset Patriots: Wine & Cheese Night

6:35 p.m. | Gates 5:30 p.m. | Tickets

The Diamond is RVA’s home for wine lovers! The Flying Squirrels are pouring up a FUNN night complete with delicious wine in collaboration with New Kent Winery.

  • Fans can purchase tickets to an exclusive pregame wine tasting session, paired with light hor dourves, in the Cross Timbers Roofing Party Pavillion. More information can be found here.
  • Enjoy $5 glasses of wine and $6 wine slushies from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Wine Cart located on the main concourse across from Gilbane Fan Services.
  • Dogs admitted for FREE in sections 101-103, 201-203 and first base General Admission. Please request a dog-friendly section if accompanied by a pet.
  • Wine & Cheese Night is presented by New Kent Winery.

Thursday, June 27 vs. Somerset Patriots: In-Your-Face Fireworks with First Responders Night

The Flying Squirrels recognize and honor local heroes who protect our community.

  • Fans with a valid first responder ID can receive a FREE General Admission ticket at the Flying Squirrels front office, will call or any ticket booths.
  • Listen to the Flying Squirrels Batter Up Brass Band on the main stage before the game.
  • Stick around for In-Your-Face Fireworks from up close and inside the fences following the game.
  • In-Your-Face Fireworks and First Responders Night is presented by Richmond Area Honda Dealers.

Friday, June 28 vs. Somerset Patriots: Tattoo Night with Friday Happy Hour

6:35 p.m. | Gates 5:30 p.m. | Tickets

Richmond is the country’s 3rd-most tatted city! The Flying Squirrels are celebrating RVA’s love of tattoos at The Diamond.

  • The first 1,000 fans ages 18 and older will go home with a tattoo “sleeve” complete with Flying Squirrels tattoos.
  • Fans at the game can enter to win a FREE Flying Squirrels permanent tattoo from our friends at Yellow Bird Tattoo. Learn more at the table on the concourse.
  • Fans with a permanent Flying Squirrels tattoo can get in FREE. Swing by a ticket booth to show off your tattoo and get a ticket.
  • Fans with a permanent baseball-themed tattoo can receive a General Admission ticket for $5. Show off your tattoo at a ticket booth to get a discounted ticket.
  • Fans of all ages can get a free temporary tattoo at the Flying Squirrels table on the main concourse. Custom designs created by Yellow Bird Tattoo.
  • Come early for a pregame performance on the stage by DJ Ron.
  • Enjoy the best Happy Hour in RVA! Sip on $2 domestic drafts from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at all lower concession stands, upper concourse beer carts and the Budweiser Thirsty Acorn. $2 Pepsi fountain sodas are also available at the Papa Johns stand on the main concourse.
  • Flying Squirrels Tattoo Night and tattoo sleeve giveaway are presented by Duke’s Mayo.

Saturday, June 29 vs. Somerset Patriots: Negro Leagues Heritage Night with In-Your-Face Fireworks

6:05 p.m. | Gates 5:00 p.m. | Tickets

They Flying Squirrels pay tribute to and honor the history of the Negro Leagues.

  • The Flying Squirrels will wear special Negro League-inspired uniforms, which will be auctioned off to benefit Flying Squirrels Charities’ mission to provide youth in Richmond access to athletic and educational opportunities. Bid on jerseys here.
  • Learn about the history and impact of the Negro Leagues through reading materials and programming on the stage.
  • In-Your-Face Fireworks from up close and inside the fences to follow the game.
  • Negro Leagues Heritage Night and fireworks show are presented by Clean Harbors.

Sunday, June 30 vs. Somerset Patriots: Bluey Meet and Greet

1:35 p.m. | Gates 12:30 p.m. | Tickets

Wackadoo! Bluey is heading to The Diamond on June 30 – for real life. Come and meet everyone’s favorite heeler in person for plenty of smiles and a photo!

  • Fans can meet Bluey in the Segra Picnic Zone, located along the third-base line at The Diamond. The Bluey Meet & Greet is open to all fans, no special ticket purchase is necessary.
  • Fans can meet Bluey during the following times in the Segra Picnic Zone: 12:40 p.m. - 1:10 p.m., 1:40 p.m. - 2:10 p.m., 2:40 p.m. - 3:10 p.m., and 3:40 p.m. - 4:10 p.m.
  • Members of the Squirrel Tails Kids Club presented by Atlantic Union Bank get in FREE! The Squirrel Tails Kids Club is free to join for children ages 14 and under and includes a General Admission ticket voucher to all Sunday home games. Click here to register.
  • All fans are invited to bring their gloves and play catch on the field from 12:45-1:05 p.m.
  • Kids ages 14 and under can run the bases following the game presented by Richmond Family Magazine. Kids can line up to run the bases outside the Squirrels Nest Team Store at the end of the first-base side of the main concourse. Parents and guardians are allowed to accompany their children onto the field and meet them as they cross home plate.
