Series Preview: Squirrels continue stretch at home vs. Harrisburg Senators

The Flying Squirrels finish a stretch of three series in three weeks at The Diamond with a six-game set vs. the Harrisburg Senators. The matchup against the Washington Nationals' Double-A affiliate will run from Tuesday, July 9 through Sunday, July 14.

The series features an exciting lineup of promotions including a hot dog candle giveaway, Richmond 34 Legacy Weekend and a youth cape giveaway for the kids.

Tuesday, July 9 vs. Harrisburg Senators: Motown Music Night

6:35 p.m. | Gates 5:30 p.m. | Tickets

Enjoy the sounds of Motown music all night long!

  • Catch a pre-game performance from Joe the Spy Blues Band on the main stage.
  • It’s also the next Silver Squirrels game. Fans ages 55 and older are eligible to join the Silver Squirrels club presented by OrthoVirginia and receive member benefits including tickets to every Tuesday home game, an exclusive T-shirt and a concession voucher.   • Silver Squirrels are invited to stroll around the warning track before the game. Participating fans can enter the tunnel from 5:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. to take walk around the field.
  • Motown Music Night at The Diamond is peanut free! No peanuts will be in the ballpark on this day to accommodate fans with peanut allergies.*

*While reasonable efforts will be made to restrict peanut products, including performing additional cleaning in advance, we cannot guarantee the absence of peanut particles and residue. Fans with peanut allergies should take all precautions that they customarily take in public places with potential exposure.

Wednesday, July 10 vs. Harrisburg Senators: National Hot Dog Day with Hot Dog Scented Candle Giveaway

The Flying Squirrels are celebrating baseball’s most iconic food, the hot dog!

  • The first 1,000 fans ages 15 and older will go home with a hot dog scented candle – yes, it does smell like a hot dog.
  • Grab a hot dog for just $1 all night at any of the main concession stands (The Dog House Cart on the concourse carries specialty hot dogs and is not included in this promotion.)
  • Fans dressed as a hot dog can grab a FREE General Admission ticket at any of the ticket booths.
  • Dogs can get in on the costume contest, too! Dogs that come dressed as a hot dog can enter-to-win a Squirrelly prize pack.
  • Enjoy $5 glasses of wine and $6 wine slushies from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Wine Cart located on the main concourse across from Gilbane Fan Services.
  • Dogs are admitted FREE in sections 101-103, 201-203 and first base General Admission. Please request a dog-friendly section if accompanied by a pet.
  • Hot Dog Day and the hot dog scented candle giveaway are presented by Potbelly.

Thursday, July 11 vs. Harrisburg Senators: Fireworks with Women & Girls in Sports Night

The Flying Squirrels Celebrate women & girls' achievements in sports on and off the field.

  • Come early to catch pregame performances and demonstrations on the field.
  • Stick around for In-Your-Face Fireworks from up close and inside the fences following the game.
  • Women & Girls in Sports Night and In-Your-Face Fireworks are presented by CarMax.

Friday, July 12 vs. Harrisburg Senators: Richmond 34 Legacy Weekend with Richmond 34 Mural Poster Giveaway

The Flying Squirrels kick off the 4th annual Richmond 34 Legacy Weekend.

  • The first 1,000 fans of all ages will receive a limited-edition poster featuring the Richmond 34 mural commissioned by the Richmond Performing Arts Alliance.
  • Artist and Virginia Union alumna Germany Ray, who created the Richmond 34 mural with Hamilton Glass, will be autographing posters on the main stage pregame.
  • Arrive early for a series of special ceremonial first pitches recognizing members of the Richmond community who continue to carry on the group's legacy
  • The Flying Squirrels will wear special Richmond 34 jerseys to honor the 34 men and women who were arrested following a peaceful sit-in protest at the Thalhimer’s Department Store in downtown Richmond on February 22nd, 1960. Jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit Flying Squirrels Charities’ Richmond 34 Legacy Scholarship. Fans can bid on jerseys here.
  • Enjoy the best Happy Hour in RVA! Sip on $2 domestic drafts from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at all lower concession stands, upper concourse beer carts and the Budweiser Thirsty Acorn. $2 Pepsi fountain sodas are also available at the Papa Johns stand on the main concourse.

Saturday, July 13 vs. Harrisburg Senators: Richmond 34 Legacy Weekend with In-Your-Face Fireworks

Richmond 34 Legacy Weekend continues as the Flying Squirrels honor the members of the Richmond 34 and their families.

  • Arrive early for a series of special ceremonial first pitches celebrating members of the Richmond 34and those who continue to carry on the group's legacy.

  • The Flying Squirrels will again wear special Richmond 34 jerseys to honor the 34 men and women who were arrested following a peaceful sit-in protest at the Thalhimer’s Department Store in downtown Richmond on February 22nd, 1960. Sunday, July 13 vs. Harrisburg Senators: Fairytale Funnville & Youth Royal Cape Giveaway

1:35 p.m. | Gates 12:30 p.m. | Tickets

Princesses, dragons, unicorns and more!

  • The first 1,000 fans ages 14 and under will go home with a royal cape, fit for a prince or princess!
  • Come dressed in your royal attire and take photos with princesses Anna and Elsa on the stage from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Members of the Squirrel Tails Kids Club presented by Atlantic Union Bank get in FREE! The Squirrel Tails Kids Club is free to join for children ages 14 and under and includes a General Admission ticket voucher to all Sunday home games. Click here to register.
  • All fans are invited to bring their gloves and play catch on the field from 12:45-1:05 p.m.
  • Kids ages 14 and under can run the bases following the game presented by Richmond Family Magazine. Kids can line up to run the bases outside the Squirrels Nest Team Store at the end of the first-base side of the main concourse. Parents and guardians are allowed to accompany their children onto the field and meet them as they cross home plate.
  • Fairytale Funnville and the youth royal cape giveaway are presented by KidMed.
