Trey Wilson is back with the Flying Squirrels for his seventh year in Richmond and his 13th overall on the airwaves in Minor League Baseball.
Prior to coming to Richmond, Wilson spent the previous four seasons as the Director of Communications and Broadcasting for the Altoona Curve (Double-A - Pittsburgh Pirates) from 2015-18. Wilson began his minor-league broadcasting career with the Appalachian League's Bluefield Blue Jays (Rookie - Toronto Blue Jays) and spent 2014 with the Midwest League's Lansing Lugnuts (Single-A - Toronto Blue Jays).
He held multiple positions in the athletic department at Bluefield College from 2010-15, spending parts of six years as the school's lead broadcaster for football, basketball, baseball and volleyball while helping launch the Rams Digital Sports Network and serving as the Assistant Director of New Media & Sports Information. Wilson spent two seasons announcing men's and women's basketball games for Saint Francis University men's and women's basketball from 2016-18.
In 2011 and 2012, Wilson wrote for Fox Sports-affiliated Scout.com, covering minor league prospects in the Appalachian League. He also spent parts of two years as an intern in the sports department at WVVA, an NBC-affiliated television station, where he covered Virginia Tech, Marshall and West Virginia University among other collegiate and high school programs. Wilson has also done freelance work voicing collegiate national championship events across the United States and high school state championship events in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. He also currently broadcasts Longwood University men's basketball on ESPN+ and other college athletics.
A native of Portsmouth, Va., Wilson enjoys traveling, U.S. history and playing music. He earned a bachelor's degree in communication and journalism from Bluefield College. Wilson currently resides in Goochland.
