Five Different Wings Batters Drove in RBI in the Win

The Rochester Red Wings took down the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 6-4, to capture their second-straight win in the Electric City. Four different Wings hitters collected an RBI, led by SS Richie Martin’s first multi-RBI game since 6/18. The Wings can now salvage a series split with a win tomorrow afternoon.

Scranton/WB kicked off scoring Saturday night in the bottom of the first inning. Two-straight RailRiders walks brought up DH Franchy Cordero, who launched a three-run home run 113.4 MPH over the right-center field wall to give Scranton a 3-0 advantage. After being held scoreless through five innings, LF Darren Baker and 2B Luis García started off the sixth with back-to-back singles.

With DH Matt Adams at the plate, Baker and García executed a double steal, allowing Baker to get the Wings on the board and cut the lead to 3-1. The California native became the first Wings runner to steal home since Adrian Sanchez on 7/8/2022 at LHV. SS Richie Martin continued the inning and tied the game with a two-out, two-RBI single, his first run driven in since 7/23. Rochester came back in the seventh, taking the lead with another three-run inning.

Noll led off the frame with an RBI single to give the Wings a 4-3 lead, followed by C Drew Millas, who plated García on another RBI single. 3B Jack Dunn capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly out to right field that brought in Noll to extend Rochester’s lead to 6-3. Scranton tacked on a fourth run in the bottom of the eighth when a fielder’s choice ground out brought in 3B Andres Chaparro.

RHP Wily Peralta made his 20th start of the season for Rochester, working five innings while allowing three runs off five hits and two walks, striking out four. Peralta’s start marked the ninth time in his last 11 outings that he went five innings or longer. RHP Hobie Harris (2-2, 7.15) came out of the bullpen first and worked 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two, collecting his second win of the season with the Wings. LHP Tim Cate and RHP Luis Cessa combined for 1.2 innings, allowing one run while striking out a batter.

Scranton/WB was unable to plate two runners in the bottom of the ninth, RHP Gerson Moreno capped off the win with a perfect inning of relief, striking out two batters while earning his team-leading eighth save of the season.

C Drew Millas is Saturday night’s Diamond Pro Player of the Game after going 2-for-4 with an RBI, a walk and a run scored. After going hitless in his first two games against Scranton/WB, Millas collected his 10th multi-hit game of the season.

Rochester will wrap up their series against the RailRiders and their two-week road trip tomorrow afternoon as they vie for a series split with Scranton/WB. RHP Jackson Rutledge will cap off the series on the mound for the Wings, with first pitch set for 1:05 p.m.
