SKY SOX WIN THIRD STRAIGHT IN 7-2 VICTORY OVER BABY CAKES
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox claimed victory for the third straight game and are 2-0 at Security Service Field with a 7-2 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes on Wednesday night. For a second consecutive night, the Sky Sox scored within the first two innings of the game before tacking on four more in the late frames.

Woodruff's Return: In his first Sky Sox start of 2018, right-hander Brandon Woodruff did not dissappoint, taking a no-hit bid into the fourth inning. Over five and two-third innings, Woodruff allowed just two hits total and one run while striking out four 'Cakes batters. In 2017, the Mississippi alum went 6-5 with a 4.30 ERA over 16 starts with the Sky Sox while also making his MLB debut the same year, notching two wins with Milwaukee. Woodruff is 5-0 with a 1.61 ERA (5 ER, 28 IP) over April starts with the Sky Sox (home and away).
Run Support: The Sky Sox didn't waste any time putting runs on the board at Security Service Field after scoring in the first and second innings for a second consecutive night against New Orleans. Colorado Springs' four-run addition in the later frames sealed the win over New Orleans in game two. The Sky Sox have outscored the Baby Cakes 15-3 over the last two nights and 26-8 overall in 2018 over opponents played so far. The Sky Sox have also outhit opponents 54-32.
Minimizing the damage: Sky Sox pitching has only allowed eight runs total in their six games played thus far in the 2018 campaign. In two games played against New Orleans, Sky Sox pitching has only surrendered three runs total.
Broxton Bombs: Keon Broxton slugged his second home run in as many nights in Wednesday night's game two against New Orleans to bring his season total to a team-leading three on the year. On April 5, he opened the year by going 4-for-4 with his first home run of the season opener in Omaha.
5-1: The Sky Sox hold a 5-1 (.833) record over the first six games of the 2018 season. Last year, after the first six games, the Sky Sox were 3-3 (.500).
