ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express is excited to celebrate the Total Eclipse of the Park on Monday, April 8 at Dell Diamond. This ticketed general admission event will include specialty eclipse glasses, an eclipse-themed playlist and a once-in-a-lifetime viewing experience for fans.
Space-themed food and beverage items such as a Rocket Dog, MoonPie Milkshake and CELSIUS Cosmic Vibe will be available for purchase. Special guest, CBS Austin meteorologist, Avery Tomasco, will be on-site for the event helping us count down and providing a breakdown of what fans will see.
A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. Round Rock is in the “Path of Totality,” which means it is in a position where the Sun will be totally eclipsed by the Moon.
"We're ecstatic at the opportunity to host fans at Dell Diamond for this rare event," Express President Chris Almendarez said. "Our ballpark is going to be the best place in Central Texas to take in the eclipse and we're excited for the community to enjoy this historic moment with us."
Fans can click HERE to purchase a game ticket for April 9-11 and they will receive a FREE ticket to see the eclipse at Dell Diamond. For fans looking to purchase a ticket for only the eclipse, click HERE. Tickets for the event will cost $10 (plus tax).
Gates will be open from 11:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for ticketed fans to enjoy the amenities at Dell Diamond. Parking for the event will be free. The eclipse in Round Rock is expected to start at 12:17 p.m., with totality lasting from 1:36 p.m. until 1:39 p.m. The sun will be fully visible again around 2:58 p.m.
The eclipse glasses will be provided by the Round Rock Express and the City of Round Rock. The glasses meet the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2:2015 and are filters for direct observation of the sun.
