Round Rock starter RHP Robert Dugger (1-3, 4.15) went home with the loss after he allowed two runs on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. El Paso starter RHP Reiss Knehr (2-1, 4.26) collected the win after he faced one batter with the bases loaded in the fifth inning and collected a strikeout. LHP Ray Kerr earned his third save of the year after a scoreless ninth inning that included two walks.
Along the Train Tracks:
- El Paso struck first with a solo home run from CF Taylor Kohlwey in the third inning. The 386-foot home run to right field gave the Chihuahuas an early 1-0 lead.
- SS Davis Wendzel answered in the bottom of the third with a home run of his own to even the score at one. The righty’s fourth home run of the season hooked down the left field line and onto the berm.
- The Chihuahuas tacked on a run in the fifth inning. With 3B Jantzen Witte on second base, an infield hit from RF Brandon Dixon allowed Witte to wheel around and score to increase the lead at 2-1.
- In the eighth inning, El Paso kept barking with two more runs. With the bases loaded, back-to-back walks for Kohlwey and Witte allowed runs to cross the plate and extend the advantage to 4-1. Round Rock had two runners reach base in the ninth inning but couldn’t get the bats going and the score stood final.
