Oklahoma City Claims 4-2 Win Over Round Rock on Thursday

Express Lead Series Two Games to One at the Halfway Point

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (7-5) dropped game three of the six-game set to the Oklahoma City Baseball Club (7-5) by a final score of 4-2 at Dell Diamond on Thursday night. Express RHP Owen White (0-2, 7.30) was tagged with the loss after his 4.0-inning start

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (7-5) dropped game three of the six-game set to the Oklahoma City Baseball Club (7-5) by a final score of 4-2 at Dell Diamond on Thursday night.

Express RHP Owen White (0-2, 7.30) was tagged with the loss after his 4.0-inning start saw three runs, two of which were earned, five hits, three walks and four strikeouts. Oklahoma City RHP Eduardo Salazar (1-0, 2.87) earned a win, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk with two punchouts during his 5.2-inning start. Baseball Club reliever RHP Ricky Vanasco claimed his third save of the season with a shutout ninth inning that included two K’s.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • Round Rock struck first with one run in the first inning. CF Derek Hill knocked a leadoff single, found third base as LF Trevor Hauver singled and scored when DH Elier Hernandez hit into a double play.
  • Oklahoma City made it a 2-1 game in the third when 2B Jonathan Araúz scored on a single from SS Trey Sweeney and DH Kody Hoese found home on a Ryan Ward sacrifice fly.
  • The Baseball Club extended its lead to 3-1 in the fourth inning as Araúz rounded the bases on a single of his own, groundout from Hoese and single from CF Andy Pages.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, Express C Sam Huff drove home Hill, who had tallied a double, to make it a 3-2 game.
  • Oklahoma City increased its lead to 4-2 when C Hunter Feduccia scored thanks to a single from Hoese in the eighth inning. Round Rock threated in the bottom of the ninth as RF Sandro Fabian worked a two-out walk then moved to second base on defensive indifference, but the 4-2 score stood final.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Express starter RHP Owen White threw a first-pitch strike against 18 of the 21 batters that he faced during his four innings on the bump. The final 13 Oklahoma City batters all saw a strike on the first pitch.
  • 3B Jantzen Witte made his Round Rock debut on Thursday night and finished the game 1-for-3 at the plate with one strikeout.
  • Round Rock relievers RHP Daniel Robert, RHP Marc Church and RHP Cole Winn all tossed scoreless outings on Thursday. Robert recorded three strikeouts in 1.2 innings while Winn punched out two in one frame.

Next up: Round Rock and Oklahoma City play for game four of the series on Friday night, with first pitch at Dell Diamond set for 7:15 p.m. CT. Express RHP Jack Leiter (1-0, 3.24) is scheduled to get the start up against Baseball Club RHP Nabil Crismatt (0-0, 0.00).
