Oklahoma City Takes Series Opener Over Round Rock 4-1

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (21-12) fell to the Oklahoma City Dodgers (23-11) on Tuesday night at Dell Diamond by a final score of 4-1.
Round Rock reliever RHP Nick Krauth (0-1, 7.71) collected the loss after 1.0 inning of work which included four runs on two hits, two walks and a strikeout. He surrendered a grand slam to Oklahoma City DH David Freitas that changed the complexion of the game. Dodgers reliever RHP Tyler Cyr (1-1, 5.52) earned the win following a scoreless 1.2-inning performance. He struck out two. RHP Nick Robertson struck out one on his way to a scoreless ninth inning and his fifth save of the year.
Along the Train Tracks:
- 2B Justin Foscue lifted the Express to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. His solo home run to left field traveled 400 feet and landed in the Express bullpen.
- After LHP Cody Bradford finished after six scoreless innings, RHP Nick Krauth entered in the seventh inning. He issued a walk, allowed a double and surrendered another walk to load the bases. DH David Freitas cashed in with a grand slam to deep left field helping the Dodgers take a 4-1 advantage.
- The Express put two men on in the eighth inning as Foscue and 1B Blaine Crim each collected a single with two outs, but RF Elier Hernandez struck out to end the threat. A one-out double for 3B Davis Wendzel made things interesting in the ninth, but the E-Train couldn't execute and fell 4-1.
E-Train Excerpts:
- Express starter LHP Cody Bradford tossed 6.0 innings of scoreless baseball with a season-high seven strikeouts. He allowed four hits and issued one walk. Bradford lowered his ERA to 0.91 (4 ER/39.2 IP) through his first seven starts. He has gone at least 5.0 innings in every outing.
- 2B Justin Foscue hit his first home run since April 22. The righty had two of Round Rock’s four knocks on the evening as he finished 2-for-2 with two walks. Foscue has four home runs on the year.
Next up: Round Rock and Oklahoma City return to Dell Diamond on Wednesday night for game two of the series. The Dodgers will send out RHP Dylan Covey (1-0, 3.67) to face Express RHP Kyle Cody (0-2, 5.85). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. CT.
