Historic Night For Hernandez Leads Round Rock Over Sacramento

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (42-29) topped the Sacramento River Cats (33-38) by a final score of 11-5 behind three home runs on Thursday night at Dell Diamond. Round Rock has won six consecutive games.
Express starter RHP Robert Dugger (3-4, 4.43) earned the win after tossing his first scoreless outing of the season that saw just two hits and five strikeouts in 5.0 innings. River Cats starter and top San Francisco Giants prospect, LHP Kyle Harrison (1-3, 4.53), was tagged with the loss after going just 2.1 innings and giving up seven hits, including three home runs, seven runs, two walks and two strikeouts.
Along the Train Tracks
- The Express saw another night with first inning runs following home runs from DH Elier Hernandez and RF Sandro Fabian. Fabian capped off a streak of five straight batters reaching base and gave the E-Train a 5-0 lead after one.
- Round Rock 1B Blaine Crim led off the third inning with a solo home run which was followed by a double from Fabian. A triple from LF Dustin Harris added one more to make it a 7-0 game.
- In the fifth inning, C Matt Whatley walked with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 8-0. CF J.P. Martinez cleared the bases with a triple to put Round Rock up 11-0.
- The River Cats threatened for the first time in the sixth inning after Express RHP Daniel Robert walked in a run with the bases loaded. 3B Armando Alvarez doubled home two runs and 1B Ford Proctor smacked a three-run homer to cut the Round Rock lead to 11-5 where the score stood final.
E-Train Excerpts:
- Round Rock DH Elier Hernandez extended his Pacific Coast League leading hitting streak to 23 games with a home run in his first at-bat of the night. His 23 straight games with a hit is a new franchise record and dates back to May 24.
- After five scoreless innings to open the game from Express RHP Robert Dugger, the righty secured his first start of the season without giving up an earned run. He has gone 5.0 innings or more in three consecutive outings.
- The Express have homered in nine straight games. Over that span, Round Rock has totaled 18 home runs and they own a 7-2 record. The six-game winning streak is also the longest of the season.
Next up: Round Rock will face Sacramento in game three on Friday at 7:05 p.m. CT. River Cats RHP Drew Strotman (2-5, 6.54) is scheduled to be on the mound while the Express will give the baseball to RHP Owen White (--, --). Friday will mark the Triple-A debut for White.
