Phillip Horn is a native of Lincoln City, Oregon and a University of Redlands 2000 Johnston College graduate with a degree in Sports Administration.
Phil’s career in professional sports began in 2006 where he worked for his hometown team Portland Trail Blazers. Starting as a Group Sales Account Executive and eventually as the Director of Group Ticket Sales he led a talented team to the number one ranking for group sales in the NBA. He then joined the Sacramento Kings as Vice President of Ticket Sales in 2010. There he led the team’s ticketing efforts through the exciting transition to new ownership and also from Sleep Train Arena into the new sold-out Golden 1 Center, named the 2017 Sports Business Journal Facility of the Year.
Horn ultimately assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Sales & Service for ticketing, premium seating and sponsorships where he helped guide the organization to multiple league awards for achievements in season ticket sales and attendance growth among others. Phil created the pioneering Sales 3.0 platform, through the use of integrated, data-driven sales technologies leading to the creation of a sports industry best-practices conference in Sacramento held in 2018 called the Kings A.S.S.I.S.T. Summit (Academy of Sports Sales Innovation, Science and Technology).
In 2019 Horn made the decision to pursue an alternate passion – plant-based foods. Phil, alongside wife Danea, founded Burger Patch, a 100% plant-based fast-food concept with a mission of feeding kindness for the planet, animals and community. Phil has served as the Owner and CEO of Burger Patch, which has been nominated by VegNews for Best Vegan Fast Food in the country and also received the annual Sacramento Business Journal small business awards for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as well as Corporate Champion of the Year for animals.
Phil recently re-joined the Sacramento Kings family as Vice President with the Sacramento River Cats, overseeing ticketing, marketing and a key role in MLB projects, including strategic planning and sales for the newly announced temporary tenancy of the Athletics at Sutter Health Park beginning in 2025.
As an emerging leader in the community, Phil was a recipient of the 2015 Sacramento Business Journal 40 Under 40 award. He was also proud to accept the 2014 NBA Values of the Game Award, delivered by the late commissioner, David J. Stern, given to a select league employee annually, as recognition for his kidney donation to wife, Danea.
Phil continues his dedicated focus on strengthening the Sacramento region as he enters his 8th year serving on the Board of Directors for the local non-profit Community HealthWorks and as a new Board Member for the Sacramento Chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) as well as continued committee work with Sacramento’s Midtown Association. He is lucky in love to Danea, who holds a PhD in Economics from UC Davis and a Masters in Economics from Sacramento State and is also a published author of the book “Chronic Resilience”. Danea will begin work as a health economist at UC San Francisco after her post-doctoral work at Stanford University wraps up in the spring of 2024. They live in the Pocket area of Sacramento with their dog Tawny, a rescue from Front Street Shelter.
