OKLAHOMA CITY--The Cielo Azul de Oklahoma (Dodgers) powered their way to an 11-3 win over the Flying Chanclas Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, as they connected for five homeruns in taking the series opener.
San Antonio starter Thomas Jankins entered play riding a seven game winning streak over his previous nine starts, but the right-hander failed to escape the fourth inning, as Oklahoma City tagged him for a career high 10 runs over 3 2/3 innings, including four homers, which matched a career high.
DJ Peters slugged a pair of longballs for the second straight game and drove in three runs for the home club. Kyle Garlick also drove in three runs for the Cielo Azul and clubbed the final homerun of the night off reliever Danny Coulombe, who was added to the San Antonio roster earlier in the day.
Trent Grisham and Lucas Erceg homered for the Chanclas, who saw their eight game winning streak come to a crashing halt. Friday's contest was also the first time in nine games that San Antonio failed to collect at least 10 hits.
Oklahoma City has hit 13 homeruns while scoring 29 times over its last two games. They extended its team streak of homeruns to 12 games, during which time they've slugged 30 homers.
Maurcio Dubon doubled for San Antonio, extending his hitting streak to 14. He's also hit safely in his last 12 road contests.
