Randy's Rockin': RailRiders Roll To 8-1 Win

BOX SCORE | SWB 8, ROC 1 (MOOSIC, PA. - August 2) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders downed the Rochester Red Wings 8-1 on Wednesday night. Randy Vasqueztied career-high with 11 strikeouts and Oswaldo Cabrera homered in the win.

(MOOSIC, PA. - August 2) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders downed the Rochester Red Wings 8-1 on Wednesday night. Randy Vasqueztied career-high with 11 strikeouts and Oswaldo Cabrera homered in the win.

Everson Pereira led off with a triple in the bottom of the second. A groundout brought him in to give SWB an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Cabrera laced a solo shot 405 feet to extend the lead.

A walk and an Andrés Chaparro single placed two on in the bottom of the fourth. Franchy Cordero singled to drive in his second run of the night and make it 3-0 RailRiders.

The RailRiders tacked on two more in the bottom of the fifth. Singles from Jamie Westbrook and Cabrera put runners on. Austin Wells smashed a line drive base hit to plate a run. A Pereira RBI sac fly scored another.

A solo shot in the top of the sixth from Darren Baker scored the Red Wings lone run making it 5-1.

SWB answered back with three more in the bottom of the frame. Carlos Narvaez drew a walk and a single from Westbrook pushed him into scoring position. Cabrera recorded another RBI on a fielder's choice. A pair of walks loaded the bases for Pereira who singled in two more runs.

At the end of six Scranton/Wilkes-Barre held a 8-1 lead that they’d preserve to win their second straight. The pitching staff totaled 30 strikeouts in the two contests.

Randy Vasquez (W, 3-8) tossed a quality start going six innings and allowing just a run on three hits. Vasquez tied his career-high and set a new season-high with 11 strikeouts. Jonathan Loáisiga pitched a 1-2-3 inning on an MLB rehab assignment. Anthony Misiewicz and Greg Weissert combined to fan four in two scoreless frames.

Jose Ureña pitched (L, 1-3) 4.1 innings in the start for Rochester allowing five runs on seven hits.
