PENSACOLA, FL - The Biloxi Shuckers let a late lead slip away on Wednesday night, falling to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 4-1 after four runs scored following a two-out error in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Jon Perrin  allowed just four hits and struck out five over 6.0 shutout innings to continue Biloxi's impressive string of starting pitching. He did not walk a batter and got through his outing on only 71 pitches. Starters Aaron Wilkerson Luis Ortiz  and Perrin have allowed just one run over 22.0 innings in the last three games, good enough for a 0.41 ERA.

The Shuckers struck early against Pensacola starter Jesús Reyes, opening the game with three straight singles from Johnny Davis , Angel Ortega and Blake Allemand to take a 1-0 lead. They didn't score after that but were poised to break through once more with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh when a rain delay interrupted their rally.
After a 41 minute delay, Carlos González (W, 1-1) got out of the bases-loaded jam with a pop-out by Ortega and strikeout of Allemand to keep the game 1-0. Nick Ramirez (L, 4-4) relieved Perrin with a scoreless seventh but ran into trouble in the eighth.
The first two outs of the eighth came easily for Ramirez, but the Blue Wahoos got a single and a walk to extend the inning. The Shuckers thought they were out of the inning when Nick Senzel hit a high pop-up to Allemand at second base, but the height of the pop-up and the light rain caused the ball to fall for a game-tying error. Pensacola capitalized on the mistake with two more run-scoring hits to take a 4-1 lead.
Zack Weiss (S, 6) turned in a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn the save and complete the comeback victory for the Blue Wahoos.
The Shuckers dropped a game in the Southern League standings to both Pensacola and Jacksonville and will enter play on Thursday 3.0 games out of first place. The Shuckers will also have to wait at least another day for their 200th in franchise history.
Biloxi will look to get back on track Thursday night, as Corbin Burnes looks to bounce back from a rough start against Wahoos righty Deck McGuire. First pitch is at 6:35 pm CT with live coverage beginning at 6:15 pm on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 and the Shuckers Radio Network. The game will also be available at biloxishuckers.com, MiLB.TV and TuneIn Radio.
The Shuckers will return to MGM Park on Sunday, July 30 for a five-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at any Ticketmaster outlet or bloxishuckers.com.
