SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield Cardinals (5-7; 35-47) sent 13 batters to the plate in a nine-run fourth inning that carried them to a 9-3 win over the Tulsa Drillers (7-5; 44-37) on Tuesday night in front of 4,820 fans at Hammons Field.

DECISIONS:
W: RHP Tommy Parsons (2-2)
L: RHP Justin De Fratus (4-4)

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:
- The bottom of the fourth inning is all that mattered on Tuesday. The Cardinals got a pair of RBI doubles by 1B Zach Kirtley, a grand slam by SS Rayder Ascanio, a two-run home run courtesy of RF Johan Mieses for eight of the inning's runs. A ninth crossed on a fielding error by Drillers 2B Zach McKinstry that allowed Cardinals CF Dylan Carlson to come home and LF Justin Toerner to reach. In total, 13 batters came to the plate as the Cardinals fell one run short of tying the organization record for most runs in an inning (10, twice).

NOTABLES:
- Parsons allowed just two earned runs on six hits and a walk over 6.0 innings, striking out four in yet another effective start. He's allowed three runs or less in three of four outings since making his Double-A debut this season.

- Ascanio's grand slam was the first of his career, and his four RBIs set a new career high over seven Minor League seasons.

- Not only was Cardinals RHP Mitchell Osnowitz celebrating a birthday, but he struck out the side in the sixth inning in his third Double-A relief appearance, allowing one walk over 1.0 inning.

- Five Cardinals batters finished with multi-hit nights, including Mieses (3-for-4), Carlson (2-for-5), C Brian O'Keefe (2-for-4), Kirtley (2-for-4) and Ascanio (2-for-4).

WHAT'S ON DECK:
The Cardinals close their series with the Drillers and the homestand on Wednesday night with first pitch set for 6:10 p.m. and gates opening at 5:10 p.m.
