SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that RHP Luke Gregerson is expected to rehab with the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field from Friday, July 6 to Sunday, July 8.

The Cardinals take on the Frisco RoughRiders this Friday at 7:10pm, with gates opening at 6:10pm. Friday is the final night of Freedom Week Fireworks, with this edition featuring American Love Songs. The Cardinals open a three-game series with the Midland RockHounds on Saturday at 6:10pm, with gates opening at 5:10pm. Saturday is our Hiland Dairy Mike & Tate Matheny STL/MSU Dual Bobblehead Giveaway for 2,000 fans, in addition to Missouri Lottery Baseball Bingo. The Cardinals and RockHounds are scheduled for a 6:10pm start Sunday, with gates opening at 5:10pm. Sunday is a Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Sunday & Kids Run the Bases, where kids can receive free ice cream before the game and run the bases after.

Originally drafted by St. Louis in the 28th round of the 2006 MLB Draft, Gregerson made his St. Louis debut in 2018 after four seasons as a relief pitcher in San Diego, one in Oakland and three in Houston. Gregerson has an 8.64 ERA over 12 appearances for the Cardinals this season, striking out eight batters in 8.1 innings. He was placed on the D.L. on May 16.

Gregerson tossed 2.1 scoreless innings over two rehab appearances for Triple-A Memphis on June 30 and July 3. Earlier this season, he had four scoreless relief appearances for High-A Palm Beach.
A 2008 Texas League Mid-Season All-Star, Gregerson pitched for Springfield from 2007-08. He made just a single appearance in 2007, throwing one scoreless inning. Gregerson had a 3.35 ERA over 57 appearances in 2008 for Springfield, striking out 78 in 75.1 innings with a 7-6 record.
He was traded by the Cardinals to the San Diego Padres along with RHP Mark Worrell for INF Khalil Greene before the 2009 season. This will be Gregerson's first appearance in Springfield since August 29, 2008. Gregerson carries over a 16.0 inning scoreless streak that carries over from his final nine appearances in Springfield. He made his MLB debut with the Padres on April 6, 2009 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.
