Minnesota Twins Transfer Infielder Nash Knight From Double-A Wichita To St. Paul

OMAHA, NE *(August 4, 2022) - *Make it team number four that infielder Nash Knight will join this season. After beginning the season in the Texas Rangers organization, Knight was traded to the Minnesota Twins organization on July 9 and assigned to Double-A Wichita. He was transferred from the Wind Surge to the St. Paul Saints on Thursday.

The 29-year-old Knight was hitting .275 with a home run and two RBI in 13 games at Wichita. In 51 at bats he scored eight runs, had three doubles, a triple, and slashed .275/.339/.431 for a .770 OPS. Knight, who signed with the Rangers organization on March 20 of this year, played two games at Double-A Frisco, going one-for-eight, before being transferred to Triple-A Round Rock on May 10. With the RoughRiders Knight hit .253 with two home runs and 20 RBI across 29 games. In 95 at bats he scored 14 runs, cracked six doubles, a triple, and slashed .253/.408/.400 for a .808 OPS in the Pacific Coast League.

Knight was a non-drafted free agent signee by the Toronto Blue Jays out of Dallas Baptist (TX) University in 2015. He spent seven seasons in the Blue Jays organization and was a Mid-Season Eastern League All-Star in 2019 with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The season prior, with the Dunedin Blue Jays, Knight played all nine positions on September 2.

While at Dallas Baptist, Knight made the Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive Team as a junior in 2014

Mikey Perez, who hit the dramatic three-run pinch-hit home run in the ninth on Wednesday, was transferred to High-A Cedar Rapids.

The Saints roster stands at 29, four below the league maximum of 33, with 16 pitchers and 13 position players.
