STOCKTON, Calif. — The Ports put together another hit parade against the Giants — this time paired with lights-out pitching to go along with their 10 hits — for a 3-0 win over San Jose to take a 2-1 lead in the six-game series.

Highly-touted prospect Steven Echavarria pitched four scoreless innings for the Ports, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out five batters. That allowed Stockton time to get on the board in the fourth inning.

TJ Schofield-Sam led off the inning by slicing a liner down the left field line for this third double of the season. With one out, catcher Carlos Franco singled up the middle to score Schofield-Sam and the Ports were up 1-0. Walks for Robert Puason and Nelson Beltran on full counts would load the bases, and Dereck Salom drew his own full-count walk to score Franco to put the Ports ahead 2-0.

Alvin Nova worked a scoreless fifth, getting a 4-6-3 double play after hitting a batter and striking out Justin Bench looking to end the frame and eventually collect the win. Ryan Brown made his return to the Ports after a three-game stint with AAA Las Vegas to throw four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Stockton would get an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when Beltran walked to start the inning, stole second, and eventually came in on a wild pitch to put the Ports up 3-0. Brown pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, four his fourth save as a Port, sealing the win for Stockton.

Darlyn Montero extended his hit streak to 10 games, and Ryan Lasko increased his on-base streak to 12 games with two hits and a walk, to go along with his team-leading 11th stolen base.
