RENO, NV – The Tacoma Rainiers (19-17) allowed two runs in the ninth inning to drop game three to the Reno Aces (18-18) by a score of 5-4, Thursday at Greater Nevada Field.

Tacoma took an early lead on an RBI ground out from Michael Chavis in the second inning followed by an RBI single from Isiah Gilliam in the fourth.

Up 2-0, Andres Chaparro cut the Rainiers’ lead in half with an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the fourth, making it 2-1. It stayed there until the sixth, when Chaparro struck again.

After Dallas Keuchel was taken out of the game, the first baseman drove a two-run single to give Reno their first lead of the game. Keuchel delivered five strong innings, allowing just two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four.

Trailing for the first time all game, the Rainiers answered right away, as Gilliam drove in his second run and the team’s third of the game with an RBI double. Tied 3-3 in the eighth, Brian Anderson got in on the fun, bringing around a fourth run for Tacoma with an RBI single.

Tacoma held their one-run lead into the ninth inning, but with two outs and nobody on, Reno strung four consecutive singles together to bring in two runs and win their third straight game over the Rainiers by a score of 5-4.

POSTGAME NOTES:
