Tampa, Fla. - Florida State League President Ken Carson announced the "2017 Post-Season All-Star Team" today. Honorees were chosen based on votes by Field Managers, coaches, official scorers and radio announcers/media representing the twelve (12) teams in the league.
Jay Bell earns "Manager of the Year" after guiding the T-Yanks to a first-half North Division Title, with a record of 39-31. Tampa has also clinched the second-half of the North Division, with a record of 40-18 as of August 28th. It is the first time the Tampa Yankees have ever won both halves of the FSL North Division.
Bell is the second Tampa Yankees skipper in as many seasons to be named the FSL "Manager of the Year." In 2016, Pat Osborn (currently managing Single-A Charleston) won the award after leading the T-Yanks to their first playoff birth since 2010.
Prior to this season, Bell had never served as a professional manager. The Elgin Air Force Base, Florida native is in his first season in the Yankees organization after previously serving as the Major League bench coach with the Cincinnati Reds for two seasons (2014-15) and the hitting coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013.
Solak is in his second season of professional baseball after being selected by the New York Yankees in the second round in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisville.
