Henry & Lutz Go Deep in Wisconsin Win Over Peoria

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers evened their current series with the Peoria Chiefs at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium at a win each with a 7-5 victory on Saturday night.
Payton Henry put the Rattlers (37-48 overall, 6-10 second half) up 1-0 with a tape-measure home run past the scoreboard beyond the left-centerfield wall to start the bottom of the second. The Rattlers loaded the bases with two outs in the inning and Zach Clark cashed in two runs with a single to right. Wisconsin stole their last run of the inning as Clark stole second to draw a throw and Nic Pierre, the runner at third, beat the return throw home for a steal of home and a 4-0 lead.

Elehuris Montero banged a home run off the scoreboard to start the top of the fourth inning to get the Chiefs (48-37, 9-6) on the scoreboard.

Pierre and Clark combined for a two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth inning to get the Wisconsin advantage back to four runs. Pierre doubled with two outs. Clark followed with a single to knock in Pierre for a 5-1 lead.

Tristen Lutz cleared the scoreboard with a titanic two-run blast in the fifth inning and the Rattlers went up 7-1.

Montero knocked in his second run of the game for the Chiefs with a double in the sixth inning. But, that was the last run allowed by Wisconsin starting pitcher Christian Taugner. The right-hander worked 6-2/3 innings, scattered nine hits, walked one, and struck out two.

Taugner did need help to get out of the seventh inning as he allowed two singles with two outs, but Michael Petersen came out of the bullpen and got the final out of the frame.

The Chiefs hit a pair of home runs in the ninth inning off Petersen. Bryce Denton hit a lead-off homer and Wood Myers hit a two-out, two-run home run to get the Chiefs close. Petersen would get Montero to ground out to end the game.
Game three of the series is Sunday afternoon. Dylan File (5-5, 4.11) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Johan Oviedo (3-7, 5.94) is set to start for the Chiefs. Game time is 1:05pm.
The first 1,000 fans to attend this game will receive a bobblehead featuring Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun wearing the 2017 Timber Rattlers Military Appreciation Jersey. Fans who show a military ID at the ticket window will receive a free reserved bleacher seat to this game. Timber Rattlers players and coaches will wear the 2018 Military Appreciation jersey during the game as part of Military Appreciation Day presented by American National Bank. The jerseys are being auctioned at timberrattlersauctions.com and the proceeds will go to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Charity Foundation to benefit the Fox Valley Veterans Council. 

PBS Kids' star Super WHY is planning to be at the game to meet with fans of the show. Everyone may play catch on-field courtesy of Rasmussen College starting at noon. Celebrate the 30^th Anniversary of Bull Durham with author Jim Cryns, who wrote The Church of Baseball; Making of Bull Durham. Jim will be available for a book signing and to meet with fans before the game. There is a Brewer Fan Makeover as part of Brewers Sunday with Rasmussen College and Star 98. Players will be available for a postgame autograph session sponsored by Tundraland.
