GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers scored six times in the bottom of the second inning to grab the early advantage of Tuesday's game with the Clinton LumberKings. The Rattlers cruised to a 7-1 victory in the first game of the three-game series at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
Wisconsin (23-27) scored six times in the second inning to take control of the game. They loaded the bases with no outs on a hit batsman, a double, and a walk. Je'Von Ward drove in the first run of the game with a single. LG Castillo followed with a grounder to first and Sean Reynolds chose to go home, but the throw was wild and two runs scored on the play for a 3-0 lead.

Korry Howell drove in the next run of the inning with a grounder. Then, Brice Turang tripled to right-center for an 5-0 advantage. Manny Piña knocked in the final run of the inning with a grounder to short.

Reese Olson was the starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers and he struck out seven LumberKings, but he had to leave the game one out shy of qualifying for the win as it took him 95 pitches to get through 4-2/3 innings.

Victor Casta
ñeda entered the game from the Wisconsin bullpen and got the final out of the frame. Castañeda worked a scoreless sixth, too.
Clinton (26-24) got on the scoreboard in the top of the eighth inning. Davis Bradshaw was hit by a pitch to start the inning.. Jerar Encarnacion, who had three hits in the game, doubled to left to get Bradshaw to third base. Sean Reynolds drove in Bradshaw with a sacrifice fly.

The Rattlers got that run back in the bottom of the eighth inning. David Fry walked on a 3-2 pitch to start the inning and was still at first with two outs. Gabriel Garc
ía singled to left for his third hit of the night and the ball was misplayed to allow Fry to race around the bases to home plate for an 8-1 lead.

Fry went 0-for-3 in the game and saw his hitting streak end at 18 games.

Piña was 0-for-4 in the first game of his four-game rehabilitation assignment with the Rattlers. He was the designated hitter on Tuesday and is scheduled to catch about half the game tomorrow.
Game two of the series is Wednesday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Justin Jarvis (0-0, 5.19) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. George Soriano (0-4, 5.30) is set to start for the LumberKings. Game time is 6:35pm.
