Wisconsin (40-30 overall, 4-1 second half) opened their half of the first inning with three straight singles from Tyler Black, Ethan Murray, and Joe Gray Jr. Tristan Peters drove in Black when he grounded into a force out at second to give the Rattlers a 1-0 lead.
Seth Gray got the Kernels (45-26, 2-3) back to even in the top of the third inning with a two-out, solo home run. That was the only hit for Cedar Rapids.
The Timber Rattlers went back in front in the bottom of the fourth. Peters started the inning with a single. Zavier Warren followed with a home run that went over 400 feet to right field. Warren’s fourth home run of the season gave the Rattlers a 3-1 lead.
Jarvis wrapped his day with a perfect top of the fifth inning, including strikeouts of the final two batters he faced. Jarvis recorded ten strikeouts and pitched around three walks and a hit batsman. Jarvis has 88 strikeouts in 75 innings this season and is 3-1 with 42 strikeouts over 29-1/3 innings pitched in five starts in June. Wednesday was the third time he has reached double digits in strikeouts for a game this season.
The Wisconsin bullpen took care of the rest. Robbie Baker pitched a perfect sixth and turned the game over to Cam Robinson for the seventh.
Robinson worked a 1-2-3 seventh with two strikeouts for his eighteenth save of the season. Robinson leads all Minor League Baseball in saves this season. He also is in fourth place by himself on the Wisconsin single season saves list. The only former Rattlers in front of Robinson are Nate Griep (23 saves in 2016), Greg Holle (19 saves in 2011), and John Thompson (19 saves in 1995).
