Brice Turang and David Fry each hit three-run homers as part of an 8-3 Biloxi Shuckers (10-13) victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (14-8) on Saturday night at MGM Park.

The Shuckers’ bats got going in the first against LHP Will Stewart (L, 0-2). Turang legged out a hustle double to right and Westbrook followed with a single to left, advancing to second as the throw came in, putting two men in scoring position with one out. Fry then stepped in and launched a ball over the right field wall for a three-run homer, his fourth long ball of the year, putting Biloxi ahead 3-0.

Biloxi tagged on two more in the bottom of the second on RBI singles from Ryan Aguilar and Turang, extending the advantage to 5-0.

On the mound, LHP Nick Bennett (W, 1-0) was sublime in his Double-A debut, retiring seven of the first eight batters he faced, including four strikeouts. The lefty allowed a solo home run to Devin Hairston in the top of the third but settled in and faced one over the minimum through the fifth inning. Over a career-best six innings pitched, Bennett turned in a quality start, allowing three runs on four hits while not walking a batter and striking out seven.

Turang notched his third hit of the night in the sixth inning. After Aguilar and Lutz drew a pair of two out walks, the Shuckers shortstop launched a first-pitch blast to right, his first homer of the season, re-establishing a five-run advantage for Biloxi. Turang had a shot at the cycle in the eighth but lined out to center.

LHP Andy Otero and RHP J.T. Hintzen took the drama out of the game, allowing just one hit over the final three frames, combining to strike out six batters.

Looking for a series split, Biloxi concludes their series with the Blue Wahoos on Sunday afternoon. RHP Matt Hardy (1-1, 3.46) takes the mound for the Shuckers against RHP Max Meyer (2-1, 2.29) for a 1:05 pm first pitch.
