Shuckers’ Win Streak is Snapped at Nine Games

*PENSACOLA, FL *– The Biloxi Shuckers (67-68, 33-35 2nd half) fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (68-63 33-34 2nd half) 5-2 in the season finale on Sunday afternoon at Admiral Fetterman Field at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The Shuckers’ win streak was snapped at nine games but still secured a series victory, winning five out of the six games in the series.

The Blue Wahoos took their first lead of the series after Griffin Conine singled home Davis Bradshaw in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. LHP Luis Palacios (W, 1-0) retired the first 13 batters of the game before surrendering a solo home run to Tristen Lutz in the top of the fifth inning.

Pensacola answered with a three-run fifth inning to take a 4-1 lead. The Blue Wahoos offense mustered four hits, including three doubles off RHP Carlos Luna (L, 5-6) in the inning to plate the three runs. After Bradshaw led off the frame with a double, Conine singled him home for his second RBI of the day. Norel Gonzalez belted a double down the right-field line to place two men in scoring position for Will Banfield. The catcher doubled home both Gonzalez and Conine to complete the scoring in the inning.

In the top of the seventh inning, Ethan Murray hit his third double of the series to lead off the frame. Two batters later, Terence Doston singled to centerfield to drive him in and cut the deficit to 4-2. Bradshaw erased that run in the eighth inning with an RBI single to score J.D. Orr and take a 5-2 lead.

After LHP Chandler Jozwiak (H, 1) hurled a scoreless eighth inning, RHP Andrew McInvale (S, 1) retired the Shuckers lineup in order to end the ballgame.
