Jake Mangum, OF
Fans of college baseball are almost certainly familiar with Mangum, who had nearly 400 hits in his four seasons at Mississippi State. Mangum is an outstanding defensive outfielder to go with plenty of speed and arm strength, making him the best pure center fielder in the Mets system. The bat has long been the question, and Mangum will never hit for much power, but some adjustments to his stance and approach led to a 29-game on base streak last season, a season in which he spent a good chunk of it donning the Rumble Ponies jersey and it's likely he'll start the 2022 campaign in Binghamton too.
Brett Baty, 3B/LF
In 2021, Baty showed the exciting hit and power he is quickly becoming known for as he mastered High-A, then slashed .272/.364/.424 in 40 very solid games for the Rumble Ponies. Prospects1500's #2 rated Mets prospect also played in the 2021 Futures Game. The BB:K rates are solid and the defense at 3B is improving as he works to raise his launch angle to get to more power without compromising his innate hitting ability. The Mets will most likely start Baty back in AA to begin 2022, but he could be on his way to AAA Syracuse very quickly if he shows that he's made gains over the offseason.
Francisco Alvarez, Catcher
Part of a historic crop of catching prospects currently making their way through the minors, Alvarez belongs in the conversation with Adley Rutschman and Gabriel Moreno as the top catcher prospect in baseball. He’s Prospects1500’s #1 ranked Mets prospect heading into this season. Hailing from Venezuela, Alvarez torched low-A for a .417 average/1.213 OPS to start 2021, then hit 22 HR in 279 High-A at bats to cement his place among the elite catchers in the minor leagues. He also represented the Mets at the 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game in Denver. Every Mets fan should be salivating at the power, defense and tireless work ethic that Francisco will bring to Binghamton, Syracuse and Queens over the next couple of seasons and beyond.
