FRISCO, Texas (July 9, 2024) – Texas Rangers starting pitcher Tyler Mahle is expected to rehab with the Frisco RoughRiders on Tuesday, July 9th when the RoughRiders meet the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals affiliate) at 7:05 p.m. from Riders Field.

He is expected to start and throw two innings in Frisco.

Mahle, who missed the majority of the 2023 season and the first half of 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in May of 2023, has spent the first seven years of his career with the Cincinnati Reds and the Minnesota Twins. In 2021, he posted a 13-6 record with a 3.75 ERA. The right-hander signed with the Rangers in December.

Before getting injured last season, he worked his way to a 3.16 ERA (9 ER in 25.2 IP) across five starts for the Twins.

The former seventh round pick by the Reds made his first rehab start last week for Triple-A Round Rock, spinning 2.0 scoreless, one-hit frames with a strikeout.

The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the World Series champion Texas Rangers, host their eighth homestand of the season with a stacked week full of promotional events spanning from Tuesday, July 9th through Sunday, July 14th against the Royals-affiliated Northwest Arkansas Naturals. The six-game series features First Responders Night, Texas Monthly BBQ Night and Bluey Night.

About the RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and the 2022 Texas League champions. In 2023, the team celebrated its 20th anniversary and has consistently finished in the top five among all Double-A franchises in attendance yearly. In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg. Since then, the new ownership group, together with the City of Frisco, has spearheaded numerous major franchise enhancements, investing over $8 million in a wide array of facility upgrades and improvements, including a state-of-the-art HD video board, sound system, Bull Moose Saloon, Bullpen Bar, Riders Outpost Team Store and the world's largest water feature in a sports facility, the massive Lazy River. These enhancements earned the Riders and the City of Frisco Ballpark Digest's prestigious "Best Ballpark Renovation" award for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). More than 200 former RoughRiders players have gone on to play Major League Baseball including current Rangers Josh Jung, Evan Carter and Leody Taveras.
