Marchan’s walk-off two-run single wins it in extras

(Allentown, Pa) – The Lehigh Valley ironPigs (37-42) and Buffalo Bisons (47-32) showcased plenty of action throughout the game on Friday, but it would be the IronPigs who would prevail as they won 10-9 in 10 innings. Rafael Marchan hit a walk-off, two-run single against Bryan Baker (4-1) to win the game for Lehigh Valley.
The Pigs’ scored six runs against Bowden Francis in the bottom of the third inning to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Marchan and Matt Vierling each hit RBI singles that were followed by a grand slam by Darick Hall. It was the first grand slam for the IronPigs this season. Nick Maton gave the Pigs’ a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning against Francis.
Dilson Herrera hit a three-run home run off David Parkinson in the top of the fifth inning that cut Lehigh Valley’s lead to 7-3. Parkinson completed five innings and allowed just those three runs while striking out two batters.
The Pigs got a run in the bottom of the sixth inning before Tyler White hit a grand slam against Julian Garcia in the top of the seventh inning to make it a one run game, 8-7. Buffalo tied the game in the top of the ninth inning when Herrera hit his second home run of the game, this time against Cam Bedrosian.
The Bisons took a 9-8 lead in the top of the tenth inning when White hit an RBI single against Jakob Hernandez (2-0).
The Pigs and Bisons play at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday at Coca-Cola Park.
