CREDENTIALS: Anyone requesting credentials during the 2024 season will be required to read and sign Major League Baseball’s 2024 Credential Agreement before applications will be reviewed or approved. All credentialed media must adhere to the standards and protocols set by Major League Baseball.
FULL-SEASON CREDENTIALS: Full-season credentials will only be issued to members of the media and legitimate newsgathering organizations who cover the South Bend Cubs on a daily basis. Full-season credentials will be available for pick-up during the team media luncheon prior to Opening Day (date TBA). Other members of the media and organizations can apply for single-game or daily credentials, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis. DAILY CREDENTIALS: Daily or single-game credentials will be issued to individuals or organizations who do not qualify for full-season credentials, including freelance writers and weekly or monthly publications, based on availability. Daily credentials will also be issued to radio and TV stations when the need arises for extra pre- or post-game personnel and to newspaper reporters providing extra covering, based on availability. Credential applications should be received by the South Bend Cubs Media Relations Department no less than 24 hours prior to the requested game. WEBSITES, BLOGGERS AND FREELANCERS: Bloggers, freelance writers and photographers may request daily credentials, which will reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Credential requests will be accepted or denied based on spacing, scheduling and the discretion of the South Bend Cubs Media Relations Department. OTHER CREDENTIALS: The South Bend Cubs will honor credentials from the Chicago Cubs, Major League Baseball and the Baseball Writers Association of America based on availability. Any media member who intends to attend a game using these credentials should reach out to the South Bend Cubs Media Relations Department no less than 24 hours in advance of that game.
PARKING: The Cubs issue a limited number of full season parking passes to select media members. Those media members who have not been granted a full season parking pass will be required to pay the standard parking rate in Cubs parking lots.
PRESS WILL CALL: Credentials may be picked up at the South Bend Cubs Main Office from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. On game days, credentials will then be available at the Box Office windows an hour before gates open, until the 7th inning. Single game credential applicants must show their confirmation email and picture ID to pick up their pass.
ADMISSION: Media must enter Four Winds Field through Gate A and MUST have your media credential. Any media member without their credential will have to purchase a ticket. This is a safety and liability concern. All camera and equipment bag are subject to search upon entry.
FIELD ACEESS: Only credentialed media with field access will be allowed onto the field. All media must clear the field 15 minutes prior to the start of the game unless special permission has been granted.
DUGOUT: Photographers are allowed in the dugout camera area but are not permitted into the team’s side of the dugout. Space is limited and will be granted on a first come, first serve basis. The South Bend Cubs reserve the right to deny access to the camera well based on availability.
PRESS BOX: The press box is located on the main concourse behind home plate and available to working media only. The Cubs will assign press box seats to a select number of publications. Please note that only one (1) media member per publication will be allowed to use their publication's assigned seat each game. Please plan accordingly if multiple members of your organization plan to cover a single game. No scouts, spouses, guests, or children of members of the media will be allowed in the press box.
ALTERNATE PRESS SEATING: Due to limited press box space, the Cubs have designated five (5) seating bowl seats for any media that does not have an assigned press box seat.
FOOD: The South Bend Cubs will provide a meal for working press and broadcasters only. Meals will be served one-hour prior to first pitch. No food or drink is to leave the press box unless it is for a member of the camera crew.
STATS & INFORMATION: Game notes and statistics are available in the press box approximately three hours before game time. Anyone needing information earlier should contact the South Bend Cubs Media Relations Department.
INTERVIEWS: Interviews with the South Bend Cubs Manager and players are available during the first 15 minutes of visitors batting practice with permission from a member of the South Bend Cubs Media Relations Department. Team Manager and select players will also be available after the game. A member of the media relations staff will be outside the clubhouse to assist with post-game interview requests. If you have a specific request for an interview that cannot take place during the above times, please contact media relations at [email protected]. The training room and player portion of the clubhouse is always off-limits to members of the media.
BATTING PRACTICE: Members of the media are welcome to attend batting practice and interview players during this time, pending manager approval. A member of the Cubs Media Relations Department must accompany media members for interviews during batting practice. While on the field, members of the media must stay in foul territory, behind home plate to avoid possible injury. The Cubs are not responsible for any injuries that may be incurred while on the field.
AUTOGRAPHS: Autograph-seeking by members of the media is prohibited.
IN-GAME TRANSMISSION: Per Major League Baseball, while events are in progress, credentialed media shall not transmit or display video, audio, pictures, photographs or other non-text accounts or descriptions of events in any media and other event information may not be transmitted more than once every half-inning of play.
VIOLATIONS: The Cubs reserve the right to suspend or revoke credentials, a publication's assigned press box seat or an individual media member's press box access for protocol violations or other behavior deemed inappropriate. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Media credential holder is deemed to have given a full release of liability to releasees to the fullest extent permitted by law. If holder cannot agree for accompanying parties, accompanying parties must leave the event. Outside food and/or beverages are prohibited inside Four Winds Field. The South Bend Cubs reserve the right to a reasonable search of guests and their belongings upon entry to event.
