Antico breaks steals record; Cards race to 5-3 win

Springdale, AR - Already Springfield's all-time stolen base leader, LF Mike Antico broke the club's all-time single-season record with two steals on Tuesday night, surpassing OF Charlie Tilson's previous record of 46 steals in 2015 and helping the Springfield Cardinals (26-26, 60-61) top the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (25-26, 54-66), 5-3, on Tuesday night at Arvest Ballpark. Antico tied the record with his first steal of the night and broke it with his second swipe, coming in the 5th inning, for his 47th bag of the campaign.

LF Mike Antico is now up to 77 steals in his Springfield career, having become the club's all-time steals leader with his 49th career swipe as a Springfield Cardinal on 6/11/23 vs. NW Arkansas (Charlie Tilson also held the all-time record with 48 steals from 2014-15)... 2B Thomas Saggese also hit a milestone with his 100th RBI of the season on a run-scoring double in the 3rd... CF Victor Scott II provided a two-out, two-run triple in the 6th and added his 82nd steal of the year (32nd in Double-A)... RHP Connor Lunn tossed 6.0 stifling frames to get the win, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out six.
