Midland, TX - The Midland RockHounds won the series finale with a 9-3 victory against the Springfield Cardinals before 6,970 fans at Security Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night.

The RockHounds (3-8, 36-44) swung in front early with a run in the bottom of the second against RHP Connor Jones (L, 4-3). 1B Seth Brown led off with a double to right field, before moving to third base on a ground out. RF Skye Bolt brought in Brown with an RBI single up the middle, lifting the RockHounds ahead, 1-0.

Midland added to the advantage in the bottom of the third. With one on and two away, the RockHounds worked four straight two-out walks to force in two runs, with the RBI free passes drawn by CF J.P. Sportman and RF Skye Bolt to pad the lead to 3-0.

The RockHounds added three more in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded and one away, 3B Edwin Diaz lifted an RBI sac fly to right field that led to a throwing error on RF Johan Mieses, which brought in a second run on the play. After a walk, LF Tyler Ramirez struck with a two-out RBI single against RHP Estarlin Arias, making it 6-0.

Midland LHP Jesus Luzardo (W, 5-3) had kept the Cardinals (2-10, 35-47) in check with five one-hit frames to start, but the Cardinals broke through against RHP Sam Bragg in the sixth. With two down, SS Tommy Edman singled himself on and raced to third on a double from 2B Ramón Urías. CF Lane Thomas then brought in both runners with a two-run triple to right-center field, shaving the deficit down to 6-2.

Midland, though, got the two runs right back in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double from Bolt and an RBI single by DH Brett Siddall, before adding an RBI double in the seventh from LF Tyler Ramirez to extend it to a 9-2 RockHounds lead.

Cardinals 2B Ramon Urias opened the top of the ninth inning with a solo home run, his fourth blast of the season, but LHP Cody Stull dealt a scoreless final frame otherwise to close the 9-3 win for Midland.
