Shuckers Fall to Biscuits in Series Finale on Margaritaville Night

BILOXI, MS – The Biloxi Shuckers (60-63, 30-26) turned the ballpark into a tropical paradise for Margaritaville Night, but fell to the Montgomery Biscuits (73-53, 33-24), 10-0 at Keesler Federal Park on Sunday night. The Shuckers enter their final 13 games of the season with a half-game lead over the Mississippi Braves for the wild card in the South Division, including six head-to-head matchups.

The Biscuits opened the scoring in the second with an RBI double from Ricardo Genovés and expanded the lead with an RBI single from Jalen Battles and an RBI double from Dru Baker, taking a 3-0 lead. In the third, RBI singles from Matthew Etzel and Mason Auer expanded the lead to 5-0 before a sacrifice fly from Ricardo Genovés made it 6-0. An error on a sacrifice fly in the fifth brought home Matthew Etzel from third, making it 7-0. In the sixth, the Biscuits took a 10-0 lead with an RBI single from Xavier Isaac and a two-RBI double from Matthew Etzel.

Evan Reifert (1-0) earned the win for the Biscuits as five pitchers combined to shutout the Shuckers on two hits. Shuckers’ starter Adam Seminaris (1-6) took the loss.

After an off-day on Monday, the Shuckers will return to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader against the Rocket City Trash Pandas at Toyota Field, beginning their final road trip of the regular season. The Shuckers will serve as the home team in game one as the teams will resume their suspended game from August 4, with two on and one out in a scoreless game in the top of the first inning. Game two will begin after the conclusion of game one, with the Trash Pandas serving as the home team. The teams will resume August 4th’s suspended game at 4:05 p.m. Fans can listen live on the Biloxi Shuckers Radio Network with pregame coverage beginning at 3:45 p.m. from the Ground Zero Blues Club Broadcast Booth.
