Heading into the 2022 season, the Shuckers are proud to partner with Prospects1500 to preview the talent likely to occupy the Biloxi Shuckers' roster. With the help of David Gasper from Prospects1500, here are the first set of players that are projected to be with Biloxi to begin the season.

OF Garrett Mitchell

Shuckers fans got to see a little bit of the 2020 first round draft pick last season, but he dealt with some nagging injuries that kept him off the field and prevented him from playing at 100%. Entering this season, Mitchell should be completely healthy and ready to wow with his 5-tool potential. Mitchell can do it all on the field; hit for average, hit for power, show off his speed, and play outstanding defense in center field. If he gets off to a hot start, go out to see him in a Shuckers uniform while you still can, because he's on the fast track to the big leagues.

OF Joey Wiemer

The outfield in Biloxi this year is going to be fun. Wiemer is the reigning Brewers' Minor League Player of the Year, after he slugged 27 homers, stole 30 bases, and hit .295/.403/.556 across Low-A and High-A. There's a very strong chance he starts 2022 in Biloxi and if he keeps hitting like that, he may not stay for long either. If you like hitters who can crush mammoth home runs, Joey Wiemer is your guy. He also has a cannon for a throwing arm in right field and has blazing speed, especially for a big guy standing at 6'5" and 215 pounds.

SS Freddy Zamora

Zamora essentially won the Brewers' minor league batting title last season, having the highest batting average of any player with at least 150 AB, hitting an even .300 on the season in 2021 across Low-A and High-A. Zamora has some extra-base pop and decent speed to go along with being a strong defender at shortstop. His high contact rates make him a must-watch at-bat and a very productive player. The Brewers believed Zamora had the talent to go in the first round in 2020, but they were excited to select him in the second round, so they're very high on his potential and he should be one Shuckers fans watch closely.
