BROOKLYN, N.Y. - On a chilly Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, the Cyclones scored a whopping 15 runs on 20 hits, in a 15-1 takedown of the Blue Rocks. All nine Cyclones in the starting lineup recorded at least one hit, with eight of the nine notching multiple hits. Gilbert Gómez crew has scored a total of 23 runs on 26 hits.
All but one starter scored at least one run, and eight of nine logged at least one RBI. It’s the most runs Brooklyn has scored in a game since 2022. It’s also the first time Brooklyn has collected 20 hits at Maimonides Park since 2011.
DH Jacob Reimer led the charge, with a 3-for-5 day with 5 RBI. Through two games, Reimer has collected 8 RBI. Reimer has already collected more RBI this year through two contests than he registered all of last year (4 in 14 games).
Much like Reimer, 1B Estarling Mercado also collected three hits. SS Boston Baro, CF Eli Serrano III, LF Chris Suero, C Ronald Hernandez, 3B Diego Mosquera and RF Jefrey De Los Santos also enjoyed multi-hit performances.
Lost in the shuffle amongst the offensive outburst was just how dominant Brooklyn pitchers were. The Cyclones' arms held the Blue Rocks to just one run on seven hits. RHP Joel Diaz was especially effective, giving the Brooklyn ‘pen some serious length. The righty tossed four shutout innings, while punching four Blue Rocks batters. All told, Brooklyn arms combined for 15 strikeouts.
Oddly enough, it was Wilmington who struck first after a 20 minute rain delay pushed back first pitch. With a runner on first and two outs in the first, 1B Brandon Boissiere clubbed a double to left field to score the first run of the game. That was the only run surrendered by RHP Brendan Girton, who made his High-A debut, and threw 2.2 innings of one run ball. The 2024 10th round pick struck out five and walked only one.
Brooklyn went on to score numerous runs in five separate innings. That began right from the jump. With runners on first and second and one gone, Suero started the party with an RBI double to tie the game at 1-1. Then, Hernandez clubbed a two run single the very next at bat to give Brooklyn a lead it would not relinquish.
Carrying a 3-1 lead into the third, the Cyclones put together their biggest offensive inning of the day - all with two outs. With a man on third, Mosquera lined a ball to center field for his first High-A base hit and RBI, which made it 4-1. After a pitching change, the ‘Clones would proceed to bring Mosquera home, courtesy of an RBI base knock from De Los Santos.
Baro then walked, and Reimer’s big day began. With the bases juiced, the California native brought home all three runners thanks to a two bagger to left field. Brooklyn carried a 7-1 lead into the fourth.

The Cyclones bats were back for more in the fourth - mounting yet another two out rally. With a man on first and two gone, Mercado provided an RBI triple to push the lead to 8-1. After a walk and another Wilmington pitching change, De Los Santos gave Brooklyn its second triple of the inning, scoring two more to hit double digits.
In the fifth, yet another two out rally allowed the Cyclones to further balloon their lead. With two in scoring position and two out, 2B Nick Roselli garnered his first High-A base hit - a two-run double to left field - to give Brooklyn a 12-1 lead.
The ‘Clones scored numerous runs for a fourth consecutive inning in the home half of the sixth. With two men on and one out, Reimer picked up his fourth and fifth RBI of the day on a two run double to center field.
Jacob Reimer has five RBI on the day and eight RBI in two games - surpassing his total from an injury-plagued 2024 season - after this two-RBI double.

The very next batter - Eli Serrano III - brought Reimer home with a base hit up the middle for Brooklyn’s 15th run of the afternoon.
The two teams would trade zeroes the rest of the way, as RHP Ben Simon, Diaz, and RHP Dylan Ross combined for 6.1 innings of scoreless relief.
Brooklyn aims for a series sweep on Sunday afternoon when it wraps up a three game set with Wilmington. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. LHP Zach Thornton is slated to make his 2025 High-A debut, while Wilmington counters with LHP Jackson Kent.
