ABERDEEN, MD (June 29, 2021) – A hot and early start lifted the Aberdeen IronBirds past the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, 7-3 Tuesday night in the series opener at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.

BIG MOMENTS

• Aberdeen scored five runs across the first three innings against Alec Kisena. Shayne Fontana and Jordan Westburg led the charge. Fontana finished 3-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Westburg also collected three hits during the early melee, driving in two to make it 5-0 after three.
• IronBirds starter Garrett Stallings earned the victory, twirling six innings of three run ball with six strikeouts and a walk. He held the Cyclones to four hits.
• Luke Ritter demolished his team-leading ninth homer of the season, scoring Ronny Mauricio and Francisco Alvarez in his three-run shot in the fourth inning, cutting it to 5-3.
