ABERDEEN, MD (July 3, 2021) – The Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, suffered an agonizing 4-3 walk-off defeat at the hands of the Aberdeen IronBirds Saturday night, surrendering four runs in the ninth inning at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.

BIG MOMENTS

  • Down 3-0 in the bottom of the ninth, Aberdeen rallied for four runs to win the game after being down to their final strike numerous times. C Maverick Handley drilled a two-out, two-strike, two-run double to right field over LT Struble’s leaping dive to score Gunner Henderson and Trevor Kehe from first and second to win the game.
  • LT Struble lined a two-run single to left field in the seventh inning, plating Joe Genord and Cody Bohanek to break the scoreless tie and give Brooklyn a 2-0 lead. Struble scored on an Aberdeen error in the same inning to push the lead to 3-0.
  • Justin Lasko tossed his fourth consecutive quality start, turning in six scoreless innings. Lasko struck out six, walking two while allowing four hits.
