POSTGAME NOTES:
- This is not Iowa’s first no-hitter against Indianapolis, they no-hit the Indians on the road on August 25, 1974 in a 7-0 victory. Iowa’s starting pitcher for that game was Homer Stinson.
- The I-Cubs most recent no-hitter was on May 7, 2014 when Chris Rusin no-hit New Orleans. The last time Iowa threw a no-hitter at home was completed by Reggie Patterson on August 21, 1984 against Omaha.
- Along with not allowing a hit, Iowa’s pitching staff allowed just three Indianapolis batters to reach, all via the walk. They punched out 15 batters after striking out 16 in their last game, Friday night.
- Today marked the first game of the series that a team didn’t score in the first inning. The team that scored first in each game won the game.
- In his first start of the season, Shelby Miller spun three scoreless innings allowing just one base runner on a free pass while striking out five.
- Iowa returns to Principal Park Tuesday, May 18 when they host the Omaha Storm Chasers. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
