Tides Blank Jumbo Shrimp in Second Straight Win
JACKSONVILLE, Fl --- The Norfolk Tides (60-70, 23-31) shutout the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (61-67, 26-27), 5-0, on Friday night at 121 Financial Ballpark. Nick Maton led the Tides in offense tonight. He started off with a three-run homer in the first inning, his 16th of the season. In the the third inning, Maton knocked in fourth run of the night. He finished 1-for-2 with the homer, four RBI and a walk.
The Tides scored their final run in the fourth when Forrest Wall knocked an RBI single to go up 5-0. That would be more than enough for the Tides pitching staff. Bruce Zimmermann started with 4.0 innings, retiring 12-of-14 batters with three strikeouts.
As for the bullpen, Nolan Hoffman earned the win after tossing 2.0 innings with three strikeouts. Bryan Baker, Colin Selby, and Corbin Martin would throw an inning each to close out the game.
